Preliminary experimental assessment of a vertical shell and tube heat exchanger based on phase change materials

The paper presents an experimental setup developed for phase change materials (PCM) testing inside a vertical shell and tube heat exchanger (VSATHE). work presented part of more complex one focusing on designing PCM that could be used in the defrosting process commercial refrigeration systems. were paraffin RT54HC, while water was as transfer fluid (HTF). This impact changing temperature inlet (70 °C, 75 80 °C) flow rate (0.012kg/sec, 0.014kg/sec 0.016kg/sec) solidification melting PCM. results experiments showed when hot increases at same rate, time VSATHE units decreases. At time, during charging process, increase with difference has no effect total time.
